Encinitas Resident Chef Bernard Guillas developed a passion for cooking at an early age by watching his grandmother, Marie Ange, make perfect pristine crepes over a rudimentary wood fire stove. Possessing natural talent, he proceeded to learn the trade in school, apprentice with a Michelin-rated nearby restaurant, then rise to meteoric culinary fame. Now at the height of his game, Chef Bernard is creating trendsetting fusion cuisine by combining world flavors with consummate French cooking techniques.
The chef is a prestigious member of American Chefs’ Hall of Fame and the esteemed co-author of Top 10 cookbook, Flying Pans: Two Chefs, One World. His unique talent and engaging personality have facilitated appearances on The Today Show, KTLA, XCTV and local San Diego Channel 6.
In addition, Chef Bernard is unwaveringly dedicated to promoting sustainable food and supporting local charities in our community. That is why he was the perfect choice to star in the first annual Encinitas Foodie Fest benefiting The Coastal Community Foundation’s Healthy Day Fund. Don’t miss the special opportunity to see this seasoned world traveler and charismatic entertainer, Chef Bernard, demonstrate how to cook Cadiz Summer Gazpacho with Pico Del Mar using organic heirloom tomatoes and sustainably harvested seafood on Saturday, June 23rd from 3:00-3:45 at Pacific Station. A book signing will follow directly after.
